Matteo Monero was born in Benevento, Italy in January 1984 and since a very young age he had a close tie with music by listening to artists like Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Jeff Mills, 808 State, Aphex Twin, Autechre and many more. At the age of 11 he had his first encounter with musical interpretation when he received a dj/consolle as a Christmas present. In 2000 Matteo starts djing at Dance Parties in his country and in years to come, his dj career develops with more gigs in more clubs and events around Europe with hope to do know his sound around world. In the year 2006, he starts with his producer career on italian label called Ldu Records, where he found collaboration like remixer for artists such as Flash Brothers and Onirika. In 2010 Matteo launched his first radioshow on Insomnia Fm called Borderliner and in the years following he founded others show like Loose on Pure Fm and In My Dark Place on United Radio. His career as a producer over the years has seen him appear on labels like Mistique Music, Sudam, Bonzai, Baroque, Indigo, Full Flava, Underground City and many more collaborating with artists like Kintar, Cj Art, Frangellico, Kay-D, Hypnotic Duo, Ozgur Ozkan, Loquai, Suffused, Deep Soul Duo, Ivan Nikusev, Andrea Lombrado & Mr Flavour and many more. The Monero’s tracks has been supported by djs such as: Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Matt Darey, Kintar, Darin Epsilon, Tomas Haverlick, Fernando Ferreyra, Cj Art, Paul Nazca, CP and many more artists of the progressive club scene.

Yesterday was a very special day for BBC Radio 1 listeners as Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello, together known as the Swedish House Mafia sat in for the second time to host the legendary Pete Tong‘s two hour radio show. The SHM broadcasted from Steve’s studio in Los Angeles and were joined by a very special guest none other than Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5! To kick off the show the Mafia debut their brand new track “Greayhound” that immediately got me out of my seat. The two hour long show was jam packed with the best that dance music has to offer at the moment. Deadmau5 dropped a mini-mix consisting of some new material and also showed love to an up and coming group that I am very excited about because one member walked the halls of my high school back in Manhattan Beach CA! The group I speak of is  No Body and their new collab with Deth Hertz “Ready 2 Fly” was first given love from the mau5 back in January when he dropped it at his birthday party in Vegas. Enough from me as I will now send it over to Ax, Seb and Steve! (My apologies if the dL doesn’t work, I will try and keep looking for new ones but they are pretty good about keeping this one off limits).

WOW! I seriously cannot explain how far my expectations were exceeded by the insane performance  Axwell dropped on the sold out Hollywood Palladium last Saturday night. Insomniac seriously went all-in with the full experience for this insane party as it was truly unforgettable! Ideal LED screen setup, smoke cannons, epic light show, mass amounts of streamers and confetti, and yes, LASERS!! His track selection had to be the best I have ever experienced and featured most of my favorite anthems at the moment. I’m having serious trouble thinking about a better overall performance that I have witnessed. If you were not at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles this past Saturday night, you blew it big time. Lucky for you there is a treat waiting below!

What has already felt like the longest weekend of my life… will be capped off tonight as one third of the legendary Swedish House Mafia is storming into Los Angeles. Axwell along with Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano will be rocking a sold out Hollywood Palladium and I cannot be more excited. Thanksgiving weekend calls for a lot of family time and reminiscing on the good ole days but lucky for us we are still in our good ole days and are looking to live in the now! Never seen Axwell before so I am pretty pumped to say the least and I can truly feel the good vibes in the air!

Just a very quick note on the first day of Ultra.

Amazing main stage. Puts Defqon.1 to shame. Unbelievably good sound. Carl Cox stage also incredible and fantastic sound.

Eric Prydz set was good but not outstanding. Opened with Personal Jesus, dropped Blue Monday, finished with Allein.

Too many people at the festival. Oversold by 30-50,000 in my opinion.

Great party bus back to South Beach, courtesy of Sol Republic. Stepped aboard and there’s a nightclub inside! Lights, smoke, mirrors and lasers plus a couple of Daft Punk impersonators DJing for us on the 30 minute trip. Surreal and fun!
